Next Day Access Memphis recently connected with an injured School Resource Officer (SRO) and donated a wheelchair ramp during his recovery.

Rick Singletary of Brighton, TN worked as a police officer for twenty-two years, but his current job at Atoka Elementary School has surprised him the most. “The kids ask all kinds of questions,” Rick remarked. “They love going in for hugs or fist bumps, and the parents show a lot of appreciation.” Each morning, he is at the front of the school helping unload the buses, greeting parents and students, and ensuring a safe school environment.

The Monday following Spring Break, the day began just like any other until Rick heard a frantic voice over the radio. A child who had been known to elope was running into the street, outpacing many of the teachers in the vicinity. Even worse, the flashing school zone signs had not been turned on after Spring Break, so cars were going the regular speed limit. Rick didn’t think twice; he immediately sprang into action, catching up with the child nearly fifty yards out just before he made his way into the busy street. The child spun around and went straight towards the road. “All I had left to do was dive and grab his feet,” Rick recalls, and that’s exactly how the fiasco ended. After getting up off the ground, Rick noticed some pain in his leg. “I took some ibuprofen like my wife suggested and went about my day. The next day, I woke up and my leg was nearly black.” Luckily, the student was uninjured.

Rick’s kneecap was broken, and his mobility was greatly limited throughout his home. When his wife struggled to get him out of the house during a storm, he knew he needed to find a temporary solution. “It’s not about me, but it’s about making it easy for her,” Rick said of his wife, who he’s been with for 37 years. “She’s doing so much for me.” Moved by his fearless actions, Next Day Access Memphis was more than happy to donate a temporary wheelchair ramp while Rick recovers.

“When I heard the story of Rick Singletary’s injury due to his heroic act, I was moved,” Greg Inman, Director of Franchise Operations, states. “We don’t hear these stories of bravery every day.  We at Next Day Access Memphis didn’t think twice about providing him with a wheelchair ramp during his recovery. We need more people like officer Rick Singletary!”

In his recovery time, he enjoys spending time with his family and his two dogs, Snelly and Fluffy. When asked what he is most excited for when he’s better, Rick immediately responded with, “I want to get back to work. I miss those kids so much.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO, UNITED STATES, enero 29, 2024 – The Colorado Springs Franchise of Next Day Access partnered with Food to Power to create both a temporary and a permanent solution to enhance accessibility.

The Mission of Food to Power

Food to Power, formerly known as Colorado Springs Food Rescue, focuses on not only reducing food waste, but also cultivating a “healthy, equitable food system.” Their mission goes beyond what most food banks do; they provide their community with resources to begin producing their own food. When their team invested in Hillside Hub, a whopping 3.5-acre hub of urban farming, fresh grocery distribution, and more, they quickly saw that food inequality was not the only need to be met.

Finding A Solution

As members of their community began showing up, they realized that a wheelchair ramp was crucial to their mission. “After making several phone calls, we very quickly came to the realization that, okay, Next Day Access will work,” said Slade Custer, Development Director of Food to Power. Within the short time frame, Next Day Access Colorado Springs created a makeshift ramp using rubber mats, allowing more members of the community access to the resources they offer. Slade continued, saying, “That was the kickoff of the partnership.”

Not only was that the kickoff of the partnership, but also the relationship between Next Day Access and Food to Power. Our technicians used their knowledge and passion about finding the right solution to educate Food to Power on the intricacies of creating a wheelchair ramp. Custer recalled learning about the inches to feet ratio, expressing how he appreciated the finer details of accessibility.

“Based off how good of an experience it was working with you [Next Day Access Colorado Springs] all the first time, it kind of opened the door for future conversations for a wheelchair ramp, and to say the least, it was an incredible experience.”

– Slade Custer

Since the Hillside Hub was built on land that was previously excavated, their wheelchair ramp required additional planning to ensure its success. “Despite it not being a copy and paste wheelchair ramp going in, you all were still very eager to work with us,” said Custer. Not only did we build a ramp, but we also built a relationship based on loyalty and understanding. “I think there’s a certain sense about Next Day Access where the personability and the customer service really played a big role…The entire time working with you all was very relational.”

A Word from Next Day Access Colorado Springs

“We are thrilled to partner with a local organization like Food to Power, said David Beiner, CEO of Next Day Access Colorado Springs. “Being able to respond to this temporary and permanent accessibility need and knowing that anyone will be able to access this space is exciting.” Now that Food to Power and Next Day Access have worked together once, we feel confident that we will work together again.

In any business, the success of a company is often attributed to the dedication and expertise of its employees. Among these dedicated individuals, there are always standout professionals who go above and beyond, making a significant impact on the organization and its customers. Ross Week, a technician at North Houston, is one such individual who has not only demonstrated his unwavering commitment but also exemplified the core value of knowledge in his work. His journey with Next Day Access has been marked by his outstanding technical skills, dedication to customer service, and an unyielding passion for his work.

A Commitment to Knowledge

Ross’s journey with Next Day Access began just over a year ago, and since then, he has consistently demonstrated the company’s core value of knowledge. In April, Ross achieved a milestone by earning the Harmar Lift Squad certification. This certification demonstrates his dedication to enhancing his technical skills and staying updated on the latest industry standards. But it’s not just about earning a certificate; it’s about applying that knowledge to solve real-world problems.

Solving Long-Standing Issues

Ross’s dedication to his career becomes evident when he tackles challenging situations. He has made a significant impact by resolving issues that have plagued customers for a long time. In one case, a customer had been struggling for eight months with a malfunctioning Helix chassis that prevented her from accessing her upstairs. Ross identified a wiring harness fault as the root of the problem.

While on-site, he took immediate action, ordering the necessary parts from tech support and ensuring overnight delivery. He didn’t stop there; Ross proactively scheduled a follow-up visit within 48 hours to install the parts and get the system working as it should. This proactive and efficient approach was a stark contrast to the frustration the customer had faced for months while dealing with the installation company. Ross’s actions not only resolved the issue but also left the customer relieved and grateful for the swift resolution.

Responsive and Passionate

In addition to Ross’s technical prowess, his responsiveness and passion for supporting the Next Day Access brand have made him a valuable asset to the North Houston location. In July, he responded to two VA service calls regarding non-functioning Highlander VPLs, both of which had been out of order for over seven weeks. Within just 24 hours of the first call, Ross had not only identified the problems but also ordered the necessary parts, all under warranty.

His swift actions not only restored these vital mobility solutions to working order but also exemplified the high level of customer service that Next Day Access prides itself on. Ross’s dedication and commitment to customer satisfaction are a testament to the company’s values and its mission to improve the quality of life for its clients.

Technician of the Month

Ross’s outstanding performance and unwavering commitment to his role have rightfully earned him the title of Technician of the Month. His ability to apply his knowledge effectively, coupled with his dedication to resolving long-standing issues and his passion for the brand, make him a true asset to Next Day Access North Houston.

Ross’s story is a testament to the impact that a knowledgeable and dedicated technician can have on a company’s success and the lives of its customers. His commitment to continuously expanding his expertise, along with his responsive and passionate approach to customer service, exemplifies the values and mission of Next Day Access. Ross serves as an inspiring example of how knowledge, dedication, and a passion for service can drive an organization forward, making it a better place for both employees and customers.

Who is Next Day Access?

Next Day Access is the home accessibility expert. We have a “Whole Home-Whole Life” approach which means accessibility and comfort in your current home. We are a national company that provides mobility equipment and accessibility devices to people with disabilities and adults choosing to age in place. Our goal is to help people to be able to stay living comfortably and safely at home rather than having to enter a nursing or rehabilitation center. Therefore, we offer innovative solutions for people with disabilities. A few of our top products include:

  • Wheelchair Ramps– Both Commercial and Residential
  • Walk-in Tubs
  • Vehicle Lifts
  • Pool Lifts
  • Patient Ceiling Lifts
  • Grab Bars and Handrails
  • A Variety of Scooters, Electric Wheelchairs, and Manual Wheelchairs
  • Stairlifts
  • Lift Chairs
  • In-Home Elevators

This list is just some of our best sellers. We keep updated on new products and offer those as well. In addition, most franchises have an installation team proficient at installing all the equipment mentioned above.

Why Next Day Access?

Essentially Next Day Access is an accessibility and mobility aids company. We offer investors excellent long-term potential. We are a massive competitor in this field and receive an abundance of positive reviews at each of our locations.

The current aging population is also an enormous factor in choosing to franchise with Next Day Access. We live in a Baby Boomer age. The population born between 1946-1964 is currently the second largest population group. Therefore, much of your clientele is already established and might have accessibility concerns. People also live longer, and 90 percent of aging adults say they prefer to age in place. This means they will look for products to make their home as accessible as possible.

Another plus is the economic immunity for medical equipment. Since the use of these products is generally non-discretionary, revenue tends to be steady despite the economy’s cycles.

According to Investopedia.com, the bottom line is that the medical equipment sector is well positioned to take advantage of a growing demand for healthcare as aging adults become a more significant percentage of the overall population. In addition, innovations offer ways to improve the lives and welfare of everyone.

Recently at an event with all the franchise owners, they were asked, “Why did they choose to invest in Next Day Access?” the answer time and time again was, “The nobility of Next Day Access inspired them; they enjoy being able to help others through their work.”

We urge you to consider seeing the joy of owning a business that offers so much to people. If you have any questions about becoming a franchise owner, we are happy to answer them.
