A longtime Georgia resident, John Sullivan moved to the peach state when he was three from Tennessee. He studied international business in Atlanta and after graduation worked overseas for two years. After his return to the US, John spent the next 30 years working around the world managing the international business of leading construction material manufacturers. After years of success with other businesses, it made perfect sense to begin his own business adventure. He studied international business in Atlanta and after graduation worked overseas for two years. After his return to the US, John spent the next 30 years working around the world managing the international business of leading construction material manufacturers

“The goal in setting up my own business was to find a way to do so in a meaningful way,” John states. “I have seen family and friends dealing with aging in place at home and with long- and short-term health crises and the growing need that exists in these areas.” Always the problem-solver, John got to work researching franchises that would help him achieve his goals. Next Day Access was exactly what John was looking for, and the partnership effortlessly evolved from there.

“Our goal is to provide the quality of service and product solutions that meet and exceed their expectations while treating them with the respect they have earned,” John states. He is looking forward to meeting people and hearing their stories, all while offering solutions to their concerns that work best for them. It’s important to him to “give sensible solutions that will allow people to stay in their homes and enjoy an improved quality of life.”

BOISE, IDAHO, UNITED STATES, August 19, 2024 – Next Day Access is expanding their territory coverage to the state of Idaho, opening the Next Day Access Boise location.

Owners Ryan Fullmer and Zach and Julie Springer are no strangers to running a business. As the owners of Hallmark Homecare, a recruiting and match-making service that connects seniors with caregivers, they understand the significance of wanting to age in place. “Through our experience with homecare, we have a deep appreciation for the need to make the home safe, comfortable, and accessible,” says Ryan Fullmer.

Due to their passion for working with seniors and their families, it became an obvious next step to join the Next Day Access team. The trio “just get it,” as we say. Next Day Access Memphis recently connected with an injured School Resource Officer (SRO) and donated a wheelchair ramp during his recovery.

Rick Singletary of Brighton, TN worked as a police officer for twenty-two years, but his current job at Atoka Elementary School has surprised him the most. “The kids ask all kinds of questions,” Rick remarked. “They love going in for hugs or fist bumps, and the parents show a lot of appreciation.” Each morning, he is at the front of the school helping unload the buses, greeting parents and students, and ensuring a safe school environment.

The Monday following Spring Break, the day began just like any other until Rick heard a frantic voice over the radio. A child who had been known to elope was running into the street, outpacing many of the teachers in the vicinity. Even worse, the flashing school zone signs had not been turned on after Spring Break, so cars were going the regular speed limit. Rick didn’t think twice; he immediately sprang into action, catching up with the child nearly fifty yards out just before he made his way into the busy street. The child spun around and went straight towards the road. “All I had left to do was dive and grab his feet,” Rick recalls, and that’s exactly how the fiasco ended. After getting up off the ground, Rick noticed some pain in his leg. “I took some ibuprofen like my wife suggested and went about my day. The next day, I woke up and my leg was nearly black.” Luckily, the student was uninjured.

Rick’s kneecap was broken, and his mobility was greatly limited throughout his home. When his wife struggled to get him out of the house during a storm, he knew he needed to find a temporary solution. “It’s not about me, but it’s about making it easy for her,” Rick said of his wife, who he’s been with for 37 years. “She’s doing so much for me.” Moved by his fearless actions, Next Day Access Memphis was more than happy to donate a temporary wheelchair ramp while Rick recovers.

“When I heard the story of Rick Singletary’s injury due to his heroic act, I was moved,” Greg Inman, Director of Franchise Operations, states. “We don’t hear these stories of bravery every day.  We at Next Day Access Memphis didn’t think twice about providing him with a wheelchair ramp during his recovery. We need more people like officer Rick Singletary!”

In his recovery time, he enjoys spending time with his family and his two dogs, Snelly and Fluffy. When asked what he is most excited for when he’s better, Rick immediately responded with, “I want to get back to work. I miss those kids so much.”

Next Day Access South Denver’s opening date is on Monday, July 1, spearheaded by Jim and Renee Carrick, partners in business and in life.

Ramp provided by Next Day Access Kansas City

Next Day Access Kansas City was honored to donate a ramp installation at the Night to Stand event for NextStep Kansas City. NextStep Kansas City is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Activity-Based Therapy for individuals living with paralysis. Located in Overland Park, NextStep Kansas City is the sole facility of its kind in the area, committed to being a cutting-edge paralysis recovery center. “Our mission at NextStep is to offer accessible and effective interventions, along with other resources, to promote recovery, health, and wellness among our clients,” said Katie Johnson, an employee at NextStep. Since insurance does not cover their program, they heavily rely on community support to ensure that those living with paralysis have access to effective recovery programs. There are a few crucial components that bring this to life: managing recovery costs, continually enhancing and maintaining training equipment, and financially assisting clients. Since fundraisers are critical for NextStep’s various events, especially Night to Stand, Next Day Access Kansas City seized the opportunity to donate a wheelchair ramp.

Night to Stand is an annual charity dinner and auction organized to support year-long opportunities for their clients. “This year, our focus is on shattering barriers, celebrating the progress made by our clients, and to ignite the spark for the transformative work that lies ahead,” Katie continued. “The interventions we offer are more than just programs; they are lifelines that offer independence, strength, and the realization of untapped potential for individuals facing paralysis.” The theme of the event, breakthrough, aligned well with the work that Next Day Access does, and it was a natural fit for Kansas City to participate.

“After searching Google and contacting numerous rental options locally, I quickly realized the scarcity of short-term ramp rentals throughout Kansas City. I eventually discovered Next Day Access and was surprised to learn about their widespread presence across the country, along with their effortless service in my area,” said Chris Smith, the Executive Director of NextStep Kansas City. “Next Day Access provided the precise ramp solution I needed for my fundraiser and collaborated with the stage provider to secure the ramp to the stage effectively. The entire process was seamless.”

Next Day Access is expanding to two locations in North Carolina. Rob Williams and Jason Williamson are the owners of Next Day Access Raleigh/Durham, NC, serving the Triangle area.

Rob began his career in general contracting, which he has done for 32 years, and he has worked in real estate for 21 years. His understanding of the accessibility world grew as he began modifying his father’s home. While he was living independently, Rob’s father relied heavily on the accessibility devices Rob installed, such as grab bars and wheelchair ramps. Doing this fulfilling work helped Rob realize that this was a business in which he wanted to invest, and he knew who he wanted to partner with to begin this journey.

Jason Williamson is a Gulf War veteran, and his work in real estate spans over 25 years, and he owns and operates the nonprofit Williamson Resource Foundation, which partners with local VA chapters to educate the public on financial literacy and helps unhoused individuals. As a disabled veteran himself, Jason empathizes with those who were injured in action, so it made perfect sense for him to partner with Rob in opening a Next Day Access franchise location. They are joined by Jason Williamson II, their technician, Brook Williams, Rob’s wife, and other employees.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO, UNITED STATES, January 29, 2024 – The Colorado Springs Franchise of Next Day Access partnered with Food to Power to create both a temporary and a permanent solution to enhance accessibility.

The Mission of Food to Power

Food to Power, formerly known as Colorado Springs Food Rescue, focuses on not only reducing food waste, but also cultivating a “healthy, equitable food system.” Their mission goes beyond what most food banks do; they provide their community with resources to begin producing their own food. When their team invested in Hillside Hub, a whopping 3.5-acre hub of urban farming, fresh grocery distribution, and more, they quickly saw that food inequality was not the only need to be met.

Finding A Solution

As members of their community began showing up, they realized that a wheelchair ramp was crucial to their mission. “After making several phone calls, we very quickly came to the realization that, okay, Next Day Access will work,” said Slade Custer, Development Director of Food to Power. Within the short time frame, Next Day Access Colorado Springs created a makeshift ramp using rubber mats, allowing more members of the community access to the resources they offer. Slade continued, saying, “That was the kickoff of the partnership.”

Not only was that the kickoff of the partnership, but also the relationship between Next Day Access and Food to Power. Our technicians used their knowledge and passion about finding the right solution to educate Food to Power on the intricacies of creating a wheelchair ramp. Custer recalled learning about the inches to feet ratio, expressing how he appreciated the finer details of accessibility.

“Based off how good of an experience it was working with you [Next Day Access Colorado Springs] all the first time, it kind of opened the door for future conversations for a wheelchair ramp, and to say the least, it was an incredible experience.”

– Slade Custer

Since the Hillside Hub was built on land that was previously excavated, their wheelchair ramp required additional planning to ensure its success. “Despite it not being a copy and paste wheelchair ramp going in, you all were still very eager to work with us,” said Custer. Not only did we build a ramp, but we also built a relationship based on loyalty and understanding. “I think there’s a certain sense about Next Day Access where the personability and the customer service really played a big role…The entire time working with you all was very relational.”

A Word from Next Day Access Colorado Springs

“We are thrilled to partner with a local organization like Food to Power, said David Beiner, CEO of Next Day Access Colorado Springs. “Being able to respond to this temporary and permanent accessibility need and knowing that anyone will be able to access this space is exciting.” Now that Food to Power and Next Day Access have worked together once, we feel confident that we will work together again.
